MG Hector's bookings reopen, prices increased by upto Rs. 40,000

What's the story

MG Motor India has re-opened the bookings for the Hector after two months of suspension. Further, the company has also announced upto Rs. 40,000 price hike on the new bookings. To recall, the company had introduced the SUV in June and received an overwhelming response of over 28,000 bookings. However, the automaker had suspended bookings back then, to meet the demand.

Available in multiple variants, the MG Hector has received a price hike of upto Rs. 40,000. It now starts at Rs. 12.48 lakh and goes upto Rs. 17.28 lakh. The bookings for the SUV are live via company's dealerships and MG's official website at a token amount of Rs. 50,000.

As far as its specifications are concerned, the SUV sports a premium look with a tall and wide stance, featuring a black grille surrounded by a chrome frame and silver-colored skid plates on the front and rear section. It comes with sleek headlamps, body-colored electronically adjustable ORVMs, roof rails, and alloy wheels. It also gets an all-LED lighting setup for headlights, DRLs, and taillamps.

Inside the cabin

Inside, the MG Hector sports a five-seater cabin with leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a three-spoke steering wheel. The 10.4-inch infotainment unit takes the center stage with a bunch of pre-loaded apps including TomTom IQ Maps, Gaana Premium, and AccuWeather. Further, it gets eSIM support and i-SMART technology that offers features like geo-fencing, real-time navigation, remote location, emergency response, and voice assistant.

Power and performance

The MG Hector is offered in three engine options: a 1.5-liter petrol, a 1.5-liter petrol-hybrid, and a 2.0-liter diesel. The 1.5-liter petrol unit generates 141bhp of power, while the the 2.0-liter diesel mill churns out 168bhp. And, the 1.5-liter petrol engine, when mated to a 48V mild hybrid unit, produces 20Nm more torque.

The MG Hector comes equipped with disc brakes on all wheels along with ABS, EBD, and traction control for improved road handling. The SUV offers dual-front airbags and a 360-degree camera as well as parking sensors. The car also comes with driver assist features such as hill assist, vehicle stability control, and speed warning alert system.
