What's the story

Homegrown automaker Tata Motors, is preparing to launch a compressed natural gas (CNG) variant of its popular compact SUV, the Nexon in India. The top-spec model, painted in a white shade, was recently seen during real-world testing at a CNG filling station near Pune. Although the official release date remains undisclosed, it's expected to be later this year.

Engine specs

It will run on a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine

The Nexon CNG model showcased at the Auto Expo featured Tata's 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine, a first for this segment. The standard petrol version of this mill delivers 118hp and 170Nm of torque. However, when running on CNG, these figures are expected to decrease to approximately 100hp and 150Nm respectively - still impressive numbers.
