Tata Motors has reported an overwhelming response for its new mid-size SUV, the Sierra. The company received over 70,000 orders on the first day of opening reservations. An additional 1.35 lakh customers have expressed their preferred configurations for the model as they complete their booking formalities. The Sierra is priced between ₹11.49 lakh and ₹21.29 lakh (ex-showroom).

Sierra's booking process and engine options

Bookings for the Tata Sierra can be made through authorized Tata dealerships or on the company's website. A token amount of ₹21,000 is to be paid, which will be adjusted against the final vehicle price. The SUV comes in seven trims: Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+. It offers three engine options: a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 157hp/255Nm; a naturally aspirated petrol engine developing 106hp/145Nm; and a diesel unit delivering up to 280Nm torque depending on the variant.

Sierra's design and safety features

The Tata Sierra sports a tall and upright SUV stance with all LED lighting elements. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and integrated body cladding for a rugged look. Inside, it gets a triple-screen dashboard layout with digital instrument cluster, infotainment touchscreen, and passenger display. The SUV also boasts a 12-speaker JBL audio system with Dolby Atmos, ambient lighting on higher trims for an enhanced driving experience.

Sierra's safety and performance tests

The Tata Sierra comes with Level 2+ ADAS offering 22 functions, connected car technology, and multiple comfort features. In controlled tests at NATRAX Indore, the Sierra Hyperion T-GDi petrol automatic achieved a mileage of 29.9km/l during a certified 12-hour run on November 30. In a separate high-speed circuit test, it reached a top speed of 222km/h under monitored conditions with trained drivers.
