TVS overtakes Yamaha to become world's 3rd-largest 2-wheeler brand
TVS Motor Company just pulled off a big move, overtaking Yamaha to become the world's third-largest two-wheeler brand.
In 2025, TVS sold 5.46 million bikes and scooters globally, marking a sharp 20.7% jump from 2024, while Yamaha's growth barely moved at 0.8%.
This puts TVS right behind Honda and Hero MotoCorp in the global rankings.
Stellar sales performance in 2025
TVS saw strong sales both at home and abroad. In India, they sold nearly 3.8 million units with a solid 19% market share, and their November numbers were up by a huge 30%.
Exports also soared, up by 58% in November alone.
On the electric side, TVS sold almost 300,000 EVs in 2025 (a big leap of over one-third from last year), grabbing over a fifth of India's growing EV market.
TVS is set to accelerate product development with new leadership
The company isn't slowing down. They elevated Sudarshan Venu to chairman and are set to bring Nick Rogers, the former engineering head at Jaguar Land Rover, into a senior leadership role to strengthen engineering and accelerate product development across its global brands.
If you're into bikes or just like seeing Indian brands make waves worldwide, this is worth keeping an eye on!
