Yamaha YE-01: Electric motocross gets a pro upgrade

Auto

Yamaha just revealed the YE-01 Racing Concept, its first electric motocross bike made with French partner Electric Motion.
Built for the new MXEP series kicking off in 2026, this prototype marks Yamaha's entry into professional electric off-road racing.

What makes the YE-01 special?

The YE-01 uses a 2026 YZ450F chassis and sports KYB adjustable suspension.
Its liquid-cooled electric motor delivers serious MXGP-level power, with a hydraulic clutch, multiple riding modes, and traction control.
The battery sits low for better handling on tough tracks.

Why does it matter?

While you can't buy the YE-01 yet—it's strictly for racing—it shows Yamaha is serious about electric tech and cutting carbon emissions.
Competing with KTM's Freeride E-XC and Ultraviolette's enduro bikes, the YE-01 blends pro-level performance with eco-friendly innovation, giving traditional motocross fans something to look forward to in the electric era.
