First railway disaster management institute to be built near Bengaluru
In order to handle railway-related accidents, India's first Disaster Management Institute and Safety village will be completed by 2018-end at Hejjala village, around 30 kilometres from Bengaluru. The institute will provide theoretical classroom training along with hands on experience in tackling emergencies like train accidents, underwater rescue and relief operations. It will be equipped with virtual reality (VR) facility to analyze the accidents.
Kannada filmstar stabbed by man after car collision
Kannada filmstar Gururaj, son of actor-turned-politician Jaggesh, was stabbed in thigh by a man after his car collided with actor's car in RT Nagar on Monday. In what appears to be a road-rage case, Gururaj confronted the man and things turned worse. Gururaj added that people around were just mere spectators and no one cared to stop the man. Police have registered a case.
Shah: Internal issues must be settled to win Karnataka polls
BJP Chief Amit Shah, who is on a three-day visit to Karnataka, said that state unit will have to settle its internal issues if the party wants to win in the upcoming assembly polls. According to sources, Shah said, "I know what's happening in party, where we are lagging. I have three survey reports with me and it is time internal issues were settled."
Bengaluru: Six arrested for assaulting police officers
Police arrested six people, who were intoxicated, for assaulting police officers in two separate cases. In the first case, two cops questioned four men for consuming alcohol by roadside. But the four men allegedly slapped, abused the cops and even tore their uniform. In second case, two men were arrested for allegedly attacking a constable attached to Rajajinagar traffic police station after he confronted them for drinking-and-driving.
