What's the story
Transport associations said if the Centre doesn't withdraw its hike in insurance premiums, drivers of Ola, Uber, airport, tourist and contracted taxis would join the strike. The associations have a meeting with the Finance Ministry in Delhi today (Friday). They are also demanding the withdrawal of the State Government's decision to charge tolls on 17 state highways. Suspension
2 police-officers suspended for not responding to a distress call
On Wednesday, Bengaluru police suspended two of its officers for being negligent about their duties and not responding to a distress call immediately. According to Police Commissioner Praveen Sood, the two policemen argued over jurisdiction instead of attending to the caller. The constables from Indiranagar Police Station claimed to have handed over the call to Ulsoor Police Station, but hadn't done so.
Education
Only 5 government schools out of 778 have playgrounds
According to the latest government data, out of the 778 elementary and secondary government schools in the Bengaluru educational division, only 5 have playgrounds. The sports' policy of the state requires at least 1 acre for primary schools and 2.5 acres for upper-primary schools to be left out for playgrounds. In the absence of playgrounds, schools have to encourage indoor games.

Answer sheets of APP and AGP exams were altered: Report
Answer sheets of the recruitment exam of Assistant Public Prosecutors (APP) and Additional Government Pleaders (AGP) held 3 years ago, were tampered with, according to a forensic science lab report. The Lokayukta police is investigating a case related to irregularities in recruitment for 197 posts of APPs and AGPs held in 2013-14. Following this, many officials from the selection committee are under the scanner.

The 30-acre, lush green space at the heart of Whitefield, the Ecumenical Christian Centre (ECC) will soon become a freethinking space for the community. It will enable people to come together and learn, teach, interact, entertain and offer anything that will help the community to grow together. An all-day carnival would be held on Sunday, where visitors can partake in several activities.

Parents beat college-going daughter to death
Reshma Bhanu, a 19-year-old girl from Hampasagara village was allegedly killed by her parents over an affair she had with a boy. On 24th March, her boyfriend, Nagaraj, visited her house to seek her hand for marriage but was assaulted with iron rods and wooden sticks. In a bid to protect him from the same, Reshma got beaten too, and had an untimely death.
