What's the story
Maruti Suzuki has finally introduced the diesel model of its Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in India at a starting price of Rs. 9.97 lakh (ex-showroom). The premium sedan debuts the company's all-new, in-house developed 1.5-liter DDiS 225 diesel engine. However, in terms of design and features, the diesel model is pretty much indistinguishable from its petrol-powered sister. Here's our roundup.

Like the petrol variant, the Maruti Ciaz diesel also sports a chrome finished front grille along with other metallic exteriors. It features an integrated antenna, power windows, a rear window defogger, adjustable LED headlights, LED fog lights, smoked headlamps, daytime running lights and projector headlights. Furthermore, with a wheelbase of 2,650mm and ground clearance of 170mm, the car runs on tubeless alloy wheels.

The Maruti Ciaz is equipped with a multi-function power steering wheel, chromed door handles, parking brake lever along with dual-tone upholstery. It comes with a touchscreen infotainment panel with smartphone connectivity. The 5-seater sedan offers height adjustable front seats and provides headrest and center-armrest for the rear passengers.

In terms of safety, the Maruti Ciaz comes with power door locks, central locking, parking sensors, crash sensors, and anti-theft provisions. The Maruti Ciaz debuts a new 1.5-liter DDiS 225 diesel turbocharged engine which produces 93.87bhp of maximum power and 225Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a newly designed 6-speed manual transmission, supports CRDi fuel supply system and offers a fuel economy of 26.82kmpl.

The Maruti Ciaz 1.5 diesel variant is launched in three models- Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. The base-end Delta model costs Rs. 9.97 lakh, the mid-end Zeta is priced at Rs. 11.08 lakh while the top-end model Alpha comes at Rs. 11.37 lakh.
