Airtel introduces VoLTE Beta program, offers free data to testers

After having rolled out VoLTE Beta program in the states of West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Kerala, Bihar, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh, Airtel is now inviting users from these states to test the company's network. Users who opt-in for the beta program will also be eligible to receive up to 30GB of free data for sharing their feedback about the service. Here's more.

Everything to know about the offer

Users will get 10GB of data upon activating VoLTE on their phones. An additional 10GB data will be credited after providing feedback at the end of fourth week and 10GB data when users give feedback after the eighth week. Notably, data will be credited within four days of completing the aforementioned activities and will be valid for 28 days since the date of credit.

Airtel is looking to expand its VoLTE services

Currently, Airtel's VoLTE services are operational in Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Chennai and West Bengal. However, as stated previously, the beta program is currently available only for users in West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Kerala, Bihar, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.

    About Airtel's VoLTE beta program

Users can register for the beta program here. In order to start, one must have a VoLTE enabled phone, an Airtel 4G SIM and an upgraded OS with VoLTE turned-on to start testing. One should also note that since the program is still in beta stage, users may face network fluctuations while using the VoLTE services.

    Airtel's foray into 5G

While Airtel is expanding its VoLTE services, the telco is also foraying into 5G. In partnership with Huawei, Airtel recently conducted a 5G trial run and has attained a throughput of more than 3Gbps in a mobile network on 3.5 GHz band with 100MHz bandwidth.
