After Jio, Airtel and Vodafone introduce ATM recharge facility
Following in the footsteps of Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone have introduced a new facility that allows prepaid subscribers to recharge their mobile numbers at a nearby bank ATM. This facility comes as an alternative recharge method for all users, especially those who cannot perform an online recharge. Earlier, these telcos had extended the plan validity for millions of prepaid users till April 17.
At present, the facility is available at select bank ATMs
Airtel subscribers can recharge their numbers from HDFC and ICICI Bank ATMs while Vodafone has collaborated with HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, Axis Bank, CITI Bank, DCB Bank, IDBI Bank, and Standard Chartered. Meanwhile, Jio users can recharge from any ATM belonging to SBI, Axis Bank, AUF Bank, CITI Bank, ICICI, HDFC, IDBI, DCB Bank, and Standard Chartered.
Airtel users can also recharge their numbers at Big Bazaar
Alongside HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank ATM branches in the country, Airtel users can also go to any Big Bazaar outlet or Apollo Pharmacy to recharge their prepaid numbers.
How to recharge your number at an ATM?
In order to proceed, make sure you have a valid debit card with enough balance to recharge your prepaid number. Go to an eligible ATM and insert your card in the machine. Then, select the "Recharge" option from the menu and provide details such as phone number to be recharged and recharge denomination. Finally, enter your PIN to complete the transaction.
Vodafone users can also perform a recharge using SMS facility
Separately, Vodafone Idea subscribers, who have an ICICI or Axis Bank account, can recharge their numbers using the SMS facility. To get started, type MOBILE [space] your 10-digit mobile number [space] operator name [space] recharge amount [space] and the last 6 digits of your Axis Bank or ICICI account number. Then, send this SMS to 9717000002 or 5676782 from your registered mobile number.
