Amazon seeks approval to expand Prime Air drones across Darlington
Amazon is asking the Civil Aviation Authority for the green light to expand its Prime Air drone delivery service to cover the whole of Darlington.
Right now, they're running trials in Darlington, making it the first place outside the US to get these speedy deliveries.
If you live within a 12.07km radius of its County Durham site and your package fits their size rules, you could get it dropped off by drone within two hours.
Prime Air completed 500+ Darlington flights
The drones have already made more than 500 flights and deliveries in Darlington, with one package arriving in just 39 minutes.
David Carbon, vice president of Prime Air, is optimistic about getting approval soon and says quicker deliveries and less road traffic are huge perks.
There was a minor incident in July when a drone landed unexpectedly after hitting something, but Amazon says no one was hurt and that these cases are rare.
