Amazon to lay off 370 employees in Luxembourg

Business

Amazon is letting go of 370 people at its European HQ in Luxembourg—about 8.5% of its local staff.
The company had planned for even more cuts but scaled back after negotiations with employee representatives and, in some cases, government authorities, as required by EU regulations.
Amazon says this is about adjusting to new business needs and regional strategies.

Software developers hit hardest as tech shifts to AI

Most of the layoffs will impact software developers, reflecting how tech jobs are changing as companies lean into AI for coding.
Even with these cuts, Amazon still employs a lot of people in Luxembourg (a country with just 680,000 residents).
For non-EU workers losing their jobs, there's a three-month window to find something new or leave the country.
This move follows Amazon's bigger plan announced this year to cut thousands of roles worldwide as it invests more in AI and robotics.
