American Express upgrades SmartEarn with memberships tab and digital redemption
Starting October 11, 2026, American Express is rolling out a big upgrade for its SmartEarn Credit Card.
Expect a fresh look on the Amex app and website, with a new Memberships tab on the Amex mobile app that puts all your offers and benefits in one place.
Redeeming or transferring reward points will be easier and fully digital: no more paperwork.
SmartEarn in-app management changes
Managing your card gets simpler: you can update details, freeze or unfreeze your card if needed, replace a card, raise disputes, or request refunds of credit balances, all right from the app.
EMI conversions jump from six to 10 transactions online (but SMS requests are going away).
Late payment fees now scale by how much you owe (₹500 to ₹1,250).
New supplementary card applications pause from September 22, 2026.
Rewards rates stay the same, but overdue payments will temporarily block earning or redeeming points.
