Andhra Pradesh to raise ₹11,900cr via government securities auction

Business

Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to raise a total of ₹11,900 crore by auctioning government securities in October and November 2025, including ₹5,000 crore each on October 28 and November 25.
This is a big part of the state's plan to meet its financial targets for the 2025-26 year, aiming for a total loan mobilization of nearly ₹80,000 crore.

Only ₹3,226cr borrowing capacity left for AP

From April to September 2025, Andhra Pradesh has already borrowed ₹65,800 crore.
With these new auctions, the total will climb to ₹76,700 crore—leaving just ₹3,226 crore borrowing capacity for the rest of the year.
All these funds come through auctions run by the Reserve Bank of India.

AP may increase entertainment tax to manage finances

The raised funds will go toward major infrastructure projects and rolling out the Super Six Welfare scheme in full.
But with spending running high, state finances are feeling the pressure.
To keep things balanced, Andhra Pradesh is exploring other funding options and might even bump up indirect taxes like entertainment tax.
