Bengaluru startup ToneTag's eKosha upgrades soundboxes with multilingual banking
Business
Bengaluru startup ToneTag is giving India's soundboxes a serious upgrade with eKosha, a handy device that lets shopkeepers not only accept payments, but also check overdrafts, ask about cheque books, and access government schemes in their own language.
It works with UPI and digital rupee payments, and even has built-in AI for offline use.
Priced ₹1,300-₹1,500, 3 million merchants
At just ₹1,300 to ₹1,500 (way cheaper than typical card machines), eKosha makes banking tools affordable for small businesses.
Already used by 3 million merchants and growing fast, ToneTag processes $4 billion in monthly payments.
The company hopes all this payment data will help more small shops get credit and join India's digital economy.
