Blinkit now lets you add items after placing an order
What's the story
Blinkit, a leading quick commerce platform, has launched a new feature that allows customers to add more items to their cart even after placing an order. The update was announced by CEO Albinder Dhindsa on X. He said that the facility comes at no extra delivery charge and eliminates the need for a second order if something was missed initially.
User convenience
Blinkit's new feature enhances user experience
The new feature from Blinkit lets customers add products while their original order is still being packed at the warehouse. This way, they don't have to go through a second checkout or pay extra delivery charges. Dhindsa also invited users to share suggestions for improvement, showing his commitment to enhancing user experience on the platform.
Product evolution
Recent updates and market position
The facility comes as the second major product update from Blinkit in a few months. Back in August, it became the first quick-commerce app in India to introduce parental controls. The system lets users hide age-restricted categories behind a six-digit PIN, conceals the related search results and purchase history, and notifies them if someone tries to change settings.
Company transformation
Blinkit's journey
Originally launched as Grofers in 2013, Blinkit transitioned from partnering with local stores for on-demand deliveries to establishing a network of dark stores for faster fulfillment. The company was rebranded as Blinkit in 2021 when it fully adopted a 10-minute delivery model. It was acquired by Zomato in 2022 and now operates under its umbrella.
