China opens its stock options market to foreign investors
China just opened its Shanghai stock options market to foreign investors, starting September 30, 2025.
Now, big international players can trade options for hedging—basically a way to manage risk.
This move is part of China's strategy to connect its markets with the rest of the world and give the yuan a bigger role globally.

This isn't a one-off: China has also made it easier for foreigners to access its bond repurchase market and raised trading limits on its Swap Connect scheme.
There are plans for the opening of an operation center in Shanghai to promote global adoption of the central bank digital yuan and new offshore business in Hong Kong.
All these steps are about giving investors better tools in China's $14 trillion stock market—and making the yuan more popular worldwide.
