DeepL to cut about 250 jobs amid AI structural shift
Business
DeepL, the German company behind those popular AI translation tools, just announced it's cutting about 250 jobs, one out of every four employees.
CEO Jarek Kutylowski said, "The decision wasn't made lightly — it is the most difficult I've had to make in my career," blaming a "massive structural shift" in AI tech for forcing its hand.
AI automation drives tech layoffs
DeepL isn't alone: big tech companies like Meta have also been letting people go as AI keeps automating more jobs.
The company says these cuts are needed to stay competitive against rivals like ChatGPT and keep leading in the fast-moving world of multilingual AI apps.
