Dutch chipmaker ASML to set up office in GIFT City
ASML, the world's leading chipmaking equipment company from the Netherlands, is opening a support office in GIFT City, Gujarat. This move is all about powering up India's chip manufacturing scene.
The new office will back Tata Electronics's first big semiconductor factory in Dholera—a ₹91,000 crore project with Taiwan's PSMC—set to start making chips by December 2026 and create 20,000+ skilled jobs.
What's ASML bringing to the table?
ASML is famous for its cutting-edge lithography machines (the tech behind modern chips).
For Tata's fab, they'll supply proven older-gen tools and potentially expand their support as the fab develops.
With a global team of 10,000 support experts, ASML promises round-the-clock help—both on-site and remote.
Why does this matter for India?
More than 250 Taiwanese chip companies are also looking to set up R&D centers and pilot lines in GIFT City.
This wave of investment means faster tech upgrades and skill-building for India—helping the country become a serious player in global chipmaking and less dependent on imports for essential electronics.
