Ex-Kingfisher Airlines staff finally get paid: ₹311.67 crore coming their way
After years of waiting, former Kingfisher Airlines employees are set to receive ₹311.67 crore in unpaid dues.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arranged this payout after a recent tribunal order, using funds from the sale of shares that were seized and handed back to the State Bank of India.
Why this matters and how it happened
This all ties back to Vijay Mallya and Kingfisher Airlines being accused of bank fraud and misusing loans, which led to huge assets being seized.
Instead of banks being paid first, the SBI-led group, through a legal process and with the tribunal's direction, prioritized settling what was owed to workers.
Now, the Official Liquidator will distribute the money among eligible ex-employees as per the tribunal's directions—a long-awaited relief for many who lost their jobs years ago.
