Goldman Sachs limits AI coding tools to engineers and strats
Goldman Sachs is tightening up who gets to use its AI coding tools.
Now only engineers and strats are in. Traders and bankers who used these tools for things such as tracking trades are out, though "strats" (the folks blending trading, research, and coding) still have the green light.
The change comes after Goldman weighed up productivity gains against potential risks.
Wall Street firms restrict AI access
Even with these new limits, Goldman isn't backing away from AI.
They've made similar moves before, such as restricting Claude in Hong Kong, but the big picture is still all about using AI smartly across the company.
This trend isn't just at Goldman; other Wall Street firms are also making sure only certain roles get access to advanced AI, aiming to boost efficiency while keeping security tight.
