HDFC CEO seeks dismissal of bribery allegations

Sashidhar Jagdishan, CEO of HDFC Bank, has been accused of taking a ₹2.05 crore bribe from the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust to help the Chetan Mehta group keep control of the trust.
In response, Jagdishan has gone to the Bombay High Court to try and get the police case against him dropped.

Trust claims to have proof of payment

The Trust says it has diary entries showing proof of payment and also claims losses over ₹1,000 crore due to Jagdishan's alleged actions.
HDFC Bank calls all accusations "baseless and malicious," suggesting this is just a tactic by the Mehta family to delay loan repayments.
Meanwhile, both sides are locked in court battles—including defamation cases—with the High Court yet to assign a new judge after one bench stepped away from the case.
