India and Israel are back at the table for a free trade deal
After more than a decade on pause, India and Israel are giving their Free Trade Agreement talks another shot.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal announced the revival during his visit to Tel Aviv, with both countries hoping to ramp up collaboration in tech, defense, and manufacturing.
What's driving the renewed talks?
Goyal brought along a 60-member business team and met Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Yoel Smotrich to push for more trade and investment—especially in areas like agritech, energy, defense, and technology.
He also pointed out India's strong 7.8% GDP growth in the first quarter of FY26, crediting reforms that make it easier for global partners to do business with India.
The revived FTA is also about strengthening the India-Israel partnership, which is rooted in cultural ties and strategic cooperation, as both nations look toward future growth together.
