India and New Zealand to sign FTA in April 2026

India and New Zealand are gearing up to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) in April 2026, aiming to make it easier for both countries to do business together.
This follows a recent visa deal that lets up to 5,000 Indian professionals work in New Zealand's IT and healthcare sectors for three years, a big step for young job seekers looking abroad.
New Zealand $20bn investment in India
With the FTA, New Zealand will facilitate investments of $20 billion in India over the next 15 years, focusing on manufacturing and infrastructure.
Trade between the two countries already jumped by nearly 49% in FY 2024-25, reaching $1.3 billion.
Plus, this deal means India will have FTAs with every RCEP country except China, showing just how much India is expanding its global trade network.
