India and Oman just signed a major trade deal
India and Oman have inked a big new trade agreement (CEPA), aiming to make business between the two countries smoother and more rewarding.
Signed by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal for India and Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef for Oman, this deal is all about opening up markets and deepening economic ties.
Why does it matter?
This CEPA gives Indian exports zero-duty access on almost all goods going into Oman—think textiles, jewelry, cars, medicines, and more.
In return, India is making it easier for Omani products to enter its market.
The agreement also means more job opportunities: Indian professionals can work in Oman for longer periods, and Indian companies can invest fully in Oman's tech, education, health, and wellness sectors.
With over 700,000 Indians living in Oman already sending home $2 billion a year, this move could mean even stronger connections—and more chances—for young people on both sides.
