India and Oman set to sign big trade deal on December 18

Business

India and Oman are about to ink a major free trade agreement (FTA) in Muscat on December 18, 2025.
The deal—called the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA)—aims to make it easier for both countries to do business together by lowering trade barriers and encouraging more investment.
Prime Minister Modi, along with top Indian officials, will be there for the signing.

Why this matters: Strong ties and bigger plans

Oman is already one of India's top trading partners in the Gulf, with two-way trade hitting $10.5 billion in 2024-25.
India mostly sends mineral fuels and chemicals to Oman, while importing petroleum products and urea.
This new agreement follows similar deals with the UAE, and talks with Qatar are up next—showing how India is stepping up its game across the Gulf region.
