India, New Zealand hold 4th round of FTA talks
India and New Zealand just finished their fourth round of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) talks, led by ministers Piyush Goyal and Todd McClay.
The main goal? To make it easier for both countries to buy and sell goods, offer services, and collaborate more on economic projects.
Trade between the 2 countries has jumped nearly 49% (YoY)
These FTA talks were formally launched on March 16, 2025, and aim to create a balanced, comprehensive, and mutually beneficial agreement.
Trade between the two countries has already jumped nearly 49% in the past year, reaching $1.3 billion.
India mostly exports things like textiles, medicines, and farm machinery to New Zealand, while importing agricultural products and minerals in return.
With tariffs pretty low already (just 2.3% on average), both sides seem eager to take things further after a long pause since 2015.
