India rice export prices near 1-year high amid poor rainfall

Indian rice export prices are near a more than one-year high ($378 to $384 per metric ton) thanks to a weaker rupee and pricier paddy.

But with freight costs up, demand has slowed, and India's rice output is set to drop for the first time in 10 years because of poor rainfall.

Rice prices mixed across Asian markets

Thailand's rice prices just climbed again due to flooding worries and busy shipments, while Vietnam's stayed flat after China's holiday lull.

Over in Bangladesh, rice got pricier by one to two taka per kilogram after a fuel price hike pushed up transport costs.
