India to become global PCB manufacturing hub by 2030

Business

India's printed circuit board (PCB) demand has grown to about $5 billion in 2024, and domestic manufacturing is projected to reach nearly $14 billion by 2030, thanks to government support and the growing need for electronics and EVs.
Still, almost 90% of bare PCBs are imported, showing there's a huge gap in local manufacturing—even though local sourcing has grown fast lately.
The government is backing new projects in states like Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh to close this gap.

ICEA suggests setting up 10-12 large plants

Industry leaders say it's time for India to level up with flex and rigid-flex PCBs.
The ICEA report suggests building 10-12 large plants, each cranking out a million square meters of PCBs every year.
This could not only meet demand from gadgets and cars but also create up to 20,000 new jobs.

India could become a major global hub for PCBs

If all goes well, India could become a major global hub for making PCBs by 2030.
Setting up supply chains—like making copper-clad laminates locally—will be key.
All these moves aim to cut down on imports and give India a stronger spot in the worldwide electronics game.
