India wants a bigger role in global supply chains
India is stepping up its game to become a bigger player in global manufacturing, as more companies look for new places to make their products.
IMF's Gita Gopinath says the country's infrastructure is improving, but tricky land acquisition rules are still slowing things down and making it tough for industries to grow.
States and skills: The way forward
Some states are already testing out creative ways to solve land issues, which could inspire changes across India.
Gopinath also points out that making labor laws more flexible and boosting education could really raise incomes—she describes the improvements as "very substantial."
Plus, with 26% of Indian workers already exposed to AI (more than the global average), building better digital infrastructure will be key, especially in areas like healthcare and education.
