Indian rice exports $358-$364 per ton amid El Nino concerns
Indian rice export prices held near a 10-month high this week, with 5% broken parboiled rice now at $358 to $364 per ton.
Rising domestic paddy prices and worries about El Nino messing with supplies are pushing prices up.
As one New Delhi-based dealer with a global trade house put it, "Supply concerns caused by El Nino are supporting prices. Buyers are continuing to purchase despite the rise in prices."
India rice exports up 5%
India's rice exports grew 5% in early 2026, mostly thanks to non-basmati shipments, even though basmati exports dropped due to the Iran war affecting Gulf trade.
Meanwhile, Thailand's prices have climbed too, Vietnam's market is steady but quiet, and Bangladesh is still dealing with high rice prices after floods.
To help out, Bangladesh plans new climate-resilient rice varieties for the future.
