Indian rupee ends ₹94.82 per USD near record low

The rupee ended Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at ₹94.82 per US dollar, just a whisker away from its all-time low.
Rising global oil prices (Brent crude is nearing $115 a barrel) are making imports more expensive for India, while ongoing foreign capital outflows and tensions in West Asia are adding extra pressure on the currency.

Indian markets rise, industrial growth slows

Despite the rupee's struggles, Indian stock markets actually saw gains: Sensex jumped 609 points and Nifty rose 182 points.
Meanwhile, industrial growth slowed to 4.1% in March as manufacturing lagged behind.
