India's engineering exports slightly decline in May
India's engineering exports dipped slightly to $9.89 billion in May 2025—a drop of less than 1%.
The Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) India points to ongoing Middle East tensions and last year's high numbers as reasons for the slip.
Still, engineering goods now make up over a quarter of all India's merchandise exports.
Exports to UAE and Saudi Arabia fell
Biggest drops came from aircraft and spacecraft parts (down a sharp 85%) and ships/boats (down 25%).
Exports to the UAE and Saudi Arabia also fell due to instability in those regions.
On the bright side, sales to the US—India's top engineering export market—actually grew by nearly 5% to $1.74 billion.

Despite May's dip, total engineering exports for April-May are up almost 5%, hitting $19.4 billion.
North America leads as India's main buyer, followed by Europe and West Asia.
Experts say future growth might be tricky with global uncertainties and tough competition in metals and aerospace—so they're calling for more government support and fresh tech innovation to keep things moving forward.
