Infineon Technologies to buy C2i Semiconductors for AI servers
Infineon Technologies, a major German chipmaker, is set to buy Bengaluru startup C2i Semiconductors, founded in 2024 by veterans from Texas Instruments.
C2i builds smart chips that make AI servers more energy-efficient by optimizing power delivery to GPUs.
The deal should wrap up by the third quarter of 2026 and will help Infineon step up its game in powering next-generation AI data centers.
The price tag has not been shared yet.
Infineon Technologies plans India power center
As part of the deal, Infineon will launch a digital power technology center in India.
C2i's CEO called it a huge chance to tap into Infineon's manufacturing know-how and worldwide reach, aiming to scale their energy-saving technology globally and speed up development.
Even a 0.5-1% improvement in power-stage efficiency can translate into roughly 100-150W of savings on a server board, reducing both power consumption and the heat that needs to be removed from increasingly dense AI infrastructure.
