Joby Aviation's 1st aircraft delivery to Dubai
Joby Aviation, a California-based company, is bringing its electric air taxis to Dubai, aiming for takeoff by early 2026.
Thanks to a six-year exclusive deal with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority, Joby will be the only player flying these futuristic rides in the city for now.
Connecting these 4 spots in Dubai
The service will connect four key spots—including Dubai International Airport and Palm Jumeirah—using special "vertiports" built just for these aircraft.
The first vertiport at DXB is already under construction and should be ready when the service launches.
More about the aircraft
Each aircraft seats five (pilot included), uses six battery-powered rotors for vertical takeoff/landing, and cruises up to 320km/h across 160km on a single charge.
It's quieter than helicopters, fully electric (so zero emissions), and designed for thousands of flights before needing new batteries.
Joby is also eyeing US market
Joby is close to getting US flight certification and has big plans beyond Dubai—think New York or LA next.
Backed by major investors like Toyota but still pre-revenue, the company is busy with demo flights, vertiport builds, and training crews ahead of their big commercial debut in 2026.
