Luckin Coffee: China's Starbucks rival debuts in US
Luckin Coffee, China's biggest coffee chain, just opened its first US stores in Manhattan, New York City.
To kick things off, they offered all drinks for $1.99 via their app and handed out free tote bags to the first 100 customers.
Over 22,000 stores across Asia
Launched in 2017, Luckin has exploded across Asia with more than 22,000 stores.
Their NYC menu covers everything from classic hot and iced coffees to matcha lattes and quirky flavors like pineapple or blood orange cold brew—all ordered through the Luckin app.
Staffed stores in NYC
Unlike their fully cashierless shops in China, these NYC locations have staff (thanks to local rules).
It's all part of Luckin's plan to bring its speedy, digital-first vibe—and affordable prices—to a market long ruled by Starbucks.
Expect some serious coffee competition ahead.
