Meta to challenge 'Unlawful' EU fine
Meta (the company behind Instagram and Facebook) is pushing back against a €200 million fine from the EU.
The penalty comes from Meta's "pay or consent" system, which basically asks users to either let their data be collected for ads or pay a fee to avoid tracking—a move that's stirred up plenty of debate since it launched in late 2023.
