Moonshot AI aims $2B annualized revenue with K3 open-weight model
Moonshot AI, a Chinese tech lab, is aiming to hit $2 billion in annualized revenue by the end of the year.
That's double the company's reported revenue run rate for August and highlights the strong performance of its K3 open-weight model, which launched earlier this year.
Even though usage has dipped a bit lately, K3 still generates a massive 300 billion tokens daily.
Moonshot AI faces Anthropic data allegations
Compared to big players like OpenAI and Anthropic, which pulled in $40 billion and $65 billion, Moonshot's target looks pretty modest.
This is mostly because its open-weight approach brings in slimmer profits than closed-weight models used by rivals.
On top of that, Moonshot is facing some heat from Anthropic over alleged mishandling of data for model training, showing just how tricky things can get in the fast-moving world of AI development.
