MSE launches 1st tokenized corporate bond under SEBI Demat 2.0
The Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (MSE) just rolled out its first-ever tokenized corporate bond, using blockchain technology as part of SEBI's Demat 2.0 pilot.
The goal? Speed up settlements, boost transparency, and make raising capital smoother, thanks to distributed ledger technology.
IIFL Finance bond settled with CBDC
Bonds are issued right on the blockchain, with ownership tracked by official depositories. Settlements happen through central bank digital currency (CBDC), keeping things secure and efficient.
The debut bond came from IIFL Finance, arranged by Trust Investment Advisors.
SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey and RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra launched the project at Global Fintech Fest 2026, with MSE MD and CEO Latika S Kundu highlighting how this could help shape India's debt markets.
