Nintendo posts ¥147.4B profit, 53.5% jump after US tariff refund
Nintendo just posted a 53.5% profit jump for April-June 2026, reaching ¥147.4 billion, way above forecasts. The main reason? A big refund from Trump-era US tariffs, which the US Supreme Court recently struck down as illegal.
Still, Nintendo's overall revenue actually dropped 10% compared to last year despite Switch 2 console sales and games like Yoshi and the Mysterious Book and Pokemon Pokopia.
US refunded $100B, Nintendo faces class-action
The US has refunded $100 billion in tariffs so far, with Nintendo getting a slice (exact amount not revealed).
There is also a class-action lawsuit claiming Nintendo raised prices during the tariff years but did not pass savings back to players.
Looking forward, new US tariffs on over 80 countries, including Japan, could make things trickier for Nintendo's exports.
