Oil edges up on U.S.-Iran tensions while silver jumps 3%
Business
Commodity markets were a bit all over the place on Tuesday.
Oil prices crept up thanks to ongoing U.S.-Iran tensions and worries about shipping delays in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, gold stayed pretty steady, but silver stole the show with a 3% jump.
US dollar near 10-day low
Brent crude oil hit $83.42 a barrel and US WTI reached $81.12, both small gains, but enough to catch traders' attention.
Gold barely budged after its recent spike, while platinum and palladium also saw some gains.
On the currency side, the US dollar hovered near a 10-day low as investors waited for interest rate updates from Japan and Australia that could shake things up in global markets soon.
