SEBI deploys AI to monitor finfluencers swaying 62% of investors
SEBI, India's market watchdog, is now using AI to keep tabs on finfluencers, many of whom operate without regulatory oversight, who sway 62% of investors with advice that isn't always legit.
SEBI chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey put it simply: old-school methods just can't keep up as financial advice increasingly migrates to social media platforms.
SEBI launches Sudarsan R(AI)DAR and campaigns
To fight fake tips and sketchy ads, SEBI rolled out Project Sudarsan (which scans social media for dodgy advice) and R(AI)DAR (which checks if asset management ads play by the rules).
They're also helping people spot real services with verified UPI handles, the SEBI Check tool, and verified app labels on Google Play.
On top of that, nearly 390,000 awareness programs and campaigns like "SEBI vs SCAM" are making financial literacy a bigger deal than ever.
