Sensex closes near 53,180 points, Nifty settles at 15,850

On Tuesday, the Indian equity benchmarks extended their winning run for the fourth straight session. While the Sensex settled at 53,177.45 points, the Nifty stood at 15,850.2. Following the broader market trend, the midcap stocks also traded similarly with the Nifty Midcap 50 settling at 7,399.45 points. Here are more details on the markets' performance on Tuesday.
As far as the top-performing sectors of the market are concerned, NIFTY METAL, NIFTY AUTO, and NIFTY ENERGY led the way, gaining 1.64%, 1.24%, and 0.98%, respectively. The biggest stock gainers were ONGC, Hindalco, and M&M, which climbed 5.37%, 4.05%, and 2.74%, respectively. Titan Company, Asian Paints, and Bajaj Finserv emerged as the most losing stocks, falling 3.52%, 3.47%, and 1.94%, respectively.
Moving on to Asian markets, the Shanghai Composite Index plummeted by 0.89% to 3,409.21 points, while the Nikkei went down by 0.66% to 27,049.47 points on Tuesday. However, the Hang Seng Index climbed 0.85% to settle at 22,418.97 points. In the US market, NASDAQ witnessed a fall. It dropped by 83.07 points, or 0.72%, to settle at 11,524.55.
The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Tuesday, with diesel priced at Rs. 89.66/liter and petrol costing Rs. 96.76/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 97.26/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 111.33/liter.
The Indian rupee (INR) on Tuesday weakened against the US Dollar, plunging 0.59% to settle at Rs. 78.8 in forex trade. On the other hand, the prices of both gold and silver futures witnessed a surge. While the former soared 0.35% to Rs. 50,828, the latter jumped 0.83% to Rs. 60,446. Crude oil futures edged up by $1.7, or 1.55% to $111.32 per barrel.
The world's most popular cryptocurrency Bitcoin is trading at $21,076.69 which is 1.81% down compared to yesterday. Tether, BNB, and Cardano are listed at $0.999 (0.05% down), $238.70 (0.61% down), and $0.4891 (3.49% down), respectively. Dogecoin is trading at $0.07233, down 7.34% from yesterday.
