On Thursday, the benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices witnessed a surge, extending their winning streak for the fifth day. The Sensex jumped 0.51% to 55,681.95 points while the Nifty climbed 0.51% to 16,605.25. Who were the biggest gainers and losers?

As far as top sector gainers are concerned, NIFTY PSU BANK, NIFTY MEDIA, and NIFTY PVT BANK topped the list, edging up 1.6%, 1.17%, and 1.16%, respectively. Top stock gainers were IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, and TATA Consumer Products, climbing 7.82%, 3.17%, and 2.93%, respectively. Dr. Reddy's Labs, Kotak Mahindra, and SBI Life Insurance were the biggest losers, falling 1.97%, 1.49%, and 1.48%, respectively.

The Indian rupee (INR) gained against the US Dollar, rising 0.06% to 79.95 in forex trade on Thursday. Meanwhile, the prices of both gold and silver futures witnessed a decline, with the former slipping 0.92% and the latter shedding 2.3% to settle at Rs. 49,761 and Rs. 54,338, respectively. The crude oil futures fell by $4.83, or 4.82% to $95.35 per barrel.
