SpaceX buys Anysphere in $60 billion stock deal, founders billionaires
Big news in tech: Elon Musk's SpaceX just bought Anysphere, the company behind the AI coding tool Cursor, for a massive $60 billion in stock.
Thanks to this deal, Cursor's co-founders Aman Sanger and Sualeh Asif are now billionaires, each holding roughly a 4.5% stake in Anysphere valued at $2.7 billion in SpaceX shares.
Aman Sanger and Sualeh Asif backgrounds
Aman Sanger, Anysphere's chief operating officer, is 25 and was born in New York to an Indian family with ties to IIT Bombay and Pratham USA.
Sualeh Asif, Anysphere's chief product officer, is 26, is originally from Karachi, and represented Pakistan at the IMO from 2016 to 2018, winning a bronze medal.
The two met at MIT, teamed up with Michael Truell and Arvid Lunnemark, and launched Cursor back in 2022, now used by big names like NVIDIA, Adobe, and Shopify.
