Starcloud raises $250 million to boost Washington facility and Starcloud-3
Starcloud, an AI satellite startup, just scored $250 million more in funding, bringing its total raised this year to $420 million and bumping its value up to $2.3 billion.
The cash is set to boost its manufacturing facility in Washington and help build the new Starcloud-3 satellite, which it is planning to launch with SpaceX's Starship.
Starcloud turns to Starship and NVIDIA
With rocket launches getting harder to secure (thanks to delays from other companies), SpaceX's upcoming Starship is now key for Starcloud's plans.
CEO Philip Johnston says it needs to move fast since the Falcon 9 program is scheduled to end in 2028.
On top of that, Starcloud is sharing those learnings with NVIDIA as the chipmaker develops its first purpose-built GPU for space, aiming for an orbital debut by 2028.
