Tata & Foxconn: The Made-in-India iPhone race that's reshaping Apple's global supply chain
India has quietly become a major force in Apple's iPhone supply chain, thanks to big investments from Tata Electronics and Foxconn. In May 2025 alone, Indian factories made over ₹15,000 crore worth of iPhones—about as many as the country used in all of 2024. This boom comes from government incentives and Apple's push to move production out of China.
Foxconn and Tata dominate India's iPhone production
Foxconn handles about 65% of India's iPhone output, while Tata now makes up the other 35%—and is looking to grow even more. Both companies have scored major government subsidies to help fuel this growth.
India is now Apple's 2nd-largest iPhone supplier
India now produces one out of every five iPhones sold worldwide, with $17.4 billion worth shipped abroad last year alone. As Apple keeps shifting away from China, India's role in making your next phone is only set to grow.
