Tata Power installs 60-megawatt-hour BESS in Mumbai aiding over 800,000
Business
Tata Power just set up a 60-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) in Mumbai, aiming to make the city's electricity supply smarter and more reliable.
The batteries store cheaper solar energy during the day and release it when demand spikes, helping over 800,000 consumers across Tata Power's Mumbai distribution network get steadier power and optimizing power purchase costs.
Tata Power plans 200MWh Mumbai rollout
This is just the start: Tata Power plans to roll out 200 megawatt-hours of these batteries across the city as part of a bigger upgrade approved last year.
With over 13 million customers and a strong focus on renewables (17.7 GW out of over 26 GW total), Tata Power is quietly making Mumbai's power network greener and more efficient for everyone.
