Tata Steel is stepping up its safety game by rolling out AI and smart technology across its sites.
With more than 10,000 CCTV cameras keeping an eye out for risky behavior and alerting supervisors in real time, the company has achieved a 38% reduction in its lost time injury frequency rate (LTIFR) over the past 15 years, a pretty impressive shift from reactive to proactive safety.
Tata Steel uses connected workforce platform
The Connected Workforce platform uses AI-enabled passes and beacons to track staff movements and make sure everyone follows safety rules.
Integrated Remote Operation Centres (iRoCs) let teams monitor dangerous tasks from a safe distance, so fewer people are exposed to hazards.
Looking ahead, Tata Steel plans to use digital twins, autonomous inspections, and wearables by 2035 to push industrial safety even further.
