TCS lays off employees, offers severance packages worth 2 years' salary
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is letting go of about 12,000 employees as part of a major restructuring, as reported in July 2025.
The layoffs mostly affect people whose skills don't match new client needs or who haven't kept up with tech changes.
To soften the blow, TCS is offering severance packages worth up to two years' salary.
Severance packages include 3 months' notice pay
Laid-off staff get three months' notice pay plus extra severance ranging from six months to two years' salary, depending on how long they've worked at TCS.
If someone hasn't been assigned work for over eight months, they also get three months' pay.
On top of that, TCS is helping with job placement support and mental health resources in select cases.
Early retirement options with full benefits are also available for those eligible.
